Barcelona Rock Fest today announces two surprise additions to its lineup this year: CAVALERA and W.A.S.P. Both bands have confirmed that they will play the festival on Friday the 5th.

July 5, 6 and 7 – Parc de Can Zam – Santa Coloma de Gramenet – Barcelona

W.A.S.P. is, without a doubt, one of the most charismatic bands in American glam and metal, led by the great Blackie Lawless. The Los Angeles natives were responsible for some of metal’s most significant anthems such as ‘Wild Child’, ‘The Real Me’, ‘The Idol’, and ‘I Wanna Be Somebody’. W.A.S.P. has been active for just over four decades, and celebrated their 40th-anniversary tour in 2022, demonstrating that they are still in excellent shape and with a spectacular and provocative staging.

The festival organizers have also confirmed the band CAVALERA. It was formed after a ten-year hiatus by Brazilian brothers Max Cavalera (vocals, guitar) and Iggor Cavalera (drums), founding members of the iconic heavy metal band Sepultura back in 1984. Throughout their career, they explored dark, political themes on albums such as “Beneath the Remains” and “Arise”, which featured influences from the indigenous culture in their work, culminating with “Roots” in 1996. After some breakups and the formation of new bands, the brothers finally reunited to create CAVALERA CONSPIRACY in an unexpected turn that rocked the world of metal. With a powerful debut album, ‘Inflikted’, the band demonstrated their talent and chemistry together.

The festival, which will take place on July 5, 6 and 7 in Santa Coloma de Gramenet (Barcelona), also recently confirmed the performances of PANTERA, RATOS DE PORÃO, PRIMAL FEAR, WARCRY, MOTOSIERRAS, SOZIEDAD ALKOHOLIKA (S.A.), ÁNGELES DEL HELL, KORPIKLAANI AND TERMINAL VIOLENCE.

PANTERA’s performance, scheduled for Saturday, July 6, will allow us to see the quartet led by Philip Anselmo and bassist Rex Brown in action at the festival, accompanied by Zakk Wylde on guitar and Charlie Benante on drums. After not gracing Barcelona stages for over two decades, they will travel straight from the USA to offer a spectacular concert in our country – the definitive tribute to the sorely missed Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie Paul. The event is, therefore, a unique chance to enjoy one of the most influential metal bands of all time. PANTERA has earned multiple gold and platinum albums and four Grammy® nominations and sold out tours consistently. Albums such as ‘Cowboys From Hell’, ‘Vulgar Display Of Power’, and Billboard number 1 album ‘Far Beyond Driven’ turned them into a guiding light for many other metal bands, as well as for an ever-growing fanbase.

But this is not the only surprise that the festival has in store for us, since new confirmations were also announced, such as Brazilian hardcore punk iconsRATOS DE PORÃO, and the performance by the Germanic power metal titans PRIMAL FEAR. And, following this musical trail but hailing from Northern Spain, we will enjoy the anthems by WARCRY. One of Spain’s most popular crossover thrash bands, SOZIEDAD ALKOHOLIKA, will hit us hard with its always critical and forceful energy. They will present their imminent new album ‘Confrontación’ at the festival. And, hailing from Santa Coloma de Gramenet and as a local group chosen to play this year, the great classics of the Barcelona punk scene MOTOSIERRAS join the lineup. Barcelona Rock Fest also adds the Spanish metal classics ÁNGELES DEL INFIERNO to its lineup. Their ‘Pacto con el diablo’ album is one of the best heavy metal long-players in Spain’s history. The urgent thrash metal of Barcelona’s TERMINAL VIOLENCE, considered one of the essential bands of this style along with Ángelus Apatrida, Crisix, and Legión, is another of the recent confirmations of the lineup. New additions also include the Finnish folk-metal originals  KORPIKLAANI.

All these names are added to the previously announced Parkway Drive, Europe, Deep Purple, Michael Schenker, Blind Guardian, Stratovarius, Rhapsody of Fire, Ross The Boss, Wolfmother, Angelus Apatrida, Massive Wagons, Celtica, Eclipse, Bourbon Kings, Cobardes, KTULU, Ankhara, Motörhits, My Own Ghost, Gamma Ray, KK’s Priest, Hatebreed, El Drogas, Thy Art Is Murder, Metallijam, The Warning, The Baboon Show, Abbath, Sodom, Dark Funeral, Crownshift, Kontrust, Asomvel, Electric Alley and Mapogos.

With the final closing of the lineup, the countdown to the biggest rock festival of the summer begins!
